Cal Friesen's Portfolio

I am an avid 3D animator and 3D layout artist. While I enjoy many aspects of animation, I particularly like doing creature animation, both exaggerated and subtle facial performance, and framing camera shots in layout sequences.

I currently tutor students at the Centre for Arts and Technology, who are in the 3D Animation Diploma Program. It has been exciting sharing my knowledge with new students and helping them grow as 3D animators. Tutoring has also allowed me to challenge my knowledge, hone my skills, and continually improve.

Recently, I participated in the 2024 OGDA Spooky Game Jam where I collaborated with a team of four others. I also participated in the 2024 Rookie Awards where I was awarded a Rank A Certificate and a Draft Selection. 

In recent years, I have also created 2D animated advertisements and in-house training videos for several clients using Vyond. 

My education includes graduating from the Centre for Arts and Technology with a 3D animation diploma. I also have 30 credits from university in many courses, such as screenwriting and linguistics, which have helped me understand subtext and how phonemes are formed.
